TIJUANA BULLFIGHTS
Photos Urs Reist ©2002 Downtown Bullring and Bullring by the Sea There are 3 ways of getting
to the bullrings. There's a bus service that is based in San Diego that takes tourists into Mexico practically everyday. I don't know their schedule or the costs; they also make trips to both bullrings and can include the tickets. By Taxi: Taking a taxi is probably the easiest way, all you have to do is park your car on the US side of the border (avg. cost $7), then walk across the border and get welcomed by hordes of Taxi drivers. Just ask them to take you to the downtown bullring "Plaza El Toreo" or the bullring by the sea "Plaza Monumental" de "Playas de Tijuana". The cost for either drive really depends on the bargaining mood of the taxi driver and should cost anywhere from $6-$12 for the downtown bullring and $12-$25 for the drive to the bullring by the sea. Drive your car: There's allot of myth's about losing you car and getting stopped and ticketed by a TJ police officer, it hardly happens, all you have to do if follow traffic directions, if you get stopped just say your lost and it's your first time in TJ. Driving to the Bullrings Keep your EYES on the road at all times!! Downtown Bullring Cross into Mexico and try to get into the right lanes, not too far, you want to go over the river not beside it. If you miss it stop and ask someone for directions to the "Plaza de Toros del Centro" (Downtown Bullring). Once the road flattens out get into the immediate right hand lane, continue forward and follow the road down now you're on the right side of the river going south. When you get to the "traffic circle" continue forward (straight), until you see a sign that says "Ensenada Libre", this is the free road to Ensenada, turn right into this road. Continue straight until you get to the second signal light (blvd. Aguascalientes) and turn left, go up and the bullring is on the right. Bullring by the Sea Cross into Mexico and stay in the middle lanes, not the far right it will take you somewhere else, stay going straight until you see a sign that says "Rosarito, Ensenada Libre, Scenic Road" stay in the middle and follow it around, the road will make a 180 degree turn, Just follow this road along the border fence, all the way up the hill (steep), after it flattens out at the top, the road will make a left turn and then go down, at this time you want to be in the right lane and turn right at the bottom, once you make the turn continue westbound until you see the sign "Playas de Tijuana" as soon as you see that sign you'll be able to see the bullring by the sea in the distance. Continue in the right lane and that's it. To get back is the same way, just pay attention to the signs.
